The Pub

Yesterday I went to an inside outside place called a pub. My doggy friends didn't come because they prefer home. At first I was a bit worried which isn't like me. People came in a door and it was different to the door I came in. People were talking but didn't talk to me. I did some worried yawning for a little while. After a while I got bored with being worried because nothing nasty happened and I lay down and went to sleep. I was happy to go back home  and see my friends. I might like the pub place one day but I don't really know my foster mum and dad very well so I'm not sure they take me good places or not. I'm very brave indoors and out on walks and nothing worries me too much but something about that pub place was a bit of a worry. 

The hoover

I had to move beds today because of noisy hoover thing. I had a good look at it when it was in the kitchen place and then I went to bed because it was boring. I didn't want to move out of its way though. I moved to another bed and there I did stay even with pointy bit next to me , behind me or in front of me. It has gone to sleep again now so  think I will too. Foster Mum says I'm not nervous of anything in the home really - I just get on with it.But if I hear noises coming from outside sometimes I go woof woof  and tell everybody but nobody here seems to care. Millie with the broken ears follows me sometimes but she says I'm no good at finding fun things to see. She says I bark at boring things so she comes back indoors or goes back to bed.

What a clever boy I am !

I have been learning all about inside and outside which is very tricky. If I go outside in the garden and do a little wee up a bush I get lots of good boys and a hug and I'm allowed back indoors straight away. So far today I have done all my wees in the outside place.
Well I nearly made it all day then I got confused  and did one indoors. It is very tricky this training your house.

I deserve a gold star !

I have been such a good boy at dinnertime. All the people were sitting eating sausages and I just lay down on a bed and watched quietly. Not bad considering I've never been in a home before. I did get a bit scared by the hot thing called a cooker though - I don't want to go anywhere near that again - it threw hot air in my face.

New friends

I have been busy trying to work out my new friends here. I've played with Millie the young girlie greyhound - I like her. But she kept moving about last night and I wasn't sure and got worried so I was glad when she slept in the other room. I walked on the lead with the old boy Dave today and we rubbed along fine.He doesn't seem so happy indoors but I did do lots of barking at him yesterday because I was a bit confused. He just looked the other way. Now that I keep out of the way of Muffy the old girlie, she is happy with me.I just make sure I don't stand over her and annoy her or bump her bed.   They all think I get up too early but there is so much to see and do here.

This morning I found dirty socks in the washing basket :) I was very pleased with myself but no-one else seemed to be impressed.

Dave sniffed my ear this morning when foster mum was giving us both lots of fuss so he might be beginning to like me.
We all had lovely treats today - meat from the fridge - I was the most gentle of all and took it so nicely and politely. More than I can say for  my friend Millie - she stole my first piece when I dropped it on the floor.  I was so good though and wasn't at all cross. I just waited and got the next bit. We share all sorts now - crusts and other leftovers.
If I carry on being such a good boy, then tomorrow I'll get a proper chew.

I got such a good look at a fox today. Millie says it steals her spare bread from the garden on a Friday morning after shopping comes. I just stared through the window until it had gone then I barked and barked. then I got to run all round the garden where it had been. None of my new friends believed me though that it was exciting because they say I find boring things exciting like lorries.

Been having lots of little walks in the garden today - apparently it helps with my house training , whatever that is. I just like to explore.  So here's my favourite pics.

Watching people eat

I have been such a good boy. Lots of food belongs to people so I can't have it. I thought I'd have a taste but they said no so I went away and was very good. My food is in a bowl and it is a bit different to what I'm used to. Sometimes I have to cough a bit up when I eat too quickly. Don't tell anyone but foster mum says it is doing fine at the other end - nice and firm now.
So far I haven't done any counter surfing or bin raiding but I'm sure I could manage it if they asked.
People keep opening the box they call a fridge and showing me the lovely things then they quickly shut it again.

My favourite spot

I was a good boy today when foster mum went out and I stayed at home with the other dogs and a different grown up person. I tried to play ball but kept forgetting they wanted it back to throw again. I have been mostly sleeping in my favourite spot in the hall but I did get out of the way when the front door opened.

First walk and rabbits

Went for first morning walk with the gang today. I went in front because I'm most important or is it because I pushed? The others were a bit worried but we settled down. The other boy seems ok but I need to make sure he knows I am important. We have sniffed noses but when I try to tell him how important and special I am then he just hides behind foster mum. I don't say any cross words but give him a look that tells him. The old girl she gives me cross words when I stand too near her in bed. Young girl though she asked to play yesterday which I had a good think about and a bit of a dance. I wasn't sure though because my friend at home in my kennel she played a bit too much and went on and on.
We saw a rabbit when we were walking and I knew I was on lead so I just had a good look and didn't pull or dance at all. When I was in the garden though yesterday  saw a rabbit and I did chase it. It ran away through the fence so I just had a run around and a good sniff.

So many things to see

Today I was very nosy when foster Dad was playing guitar - never seen one of those before - what was he doing? Seems quite harmless though. There are so many new things here I don't quite know what to do with myself. Sometimes I have a bit of a moan about all these new things.
I want to look at everything and follow everybody but there are some places I haven't been allowed. Don't know why.

Stairs and other things

Well I slept in a house for the first time ever last night. It was a bit worrying because I didn't know what was going on.I am quite good at going upstairs but learning to come down again is a bit tricky. First couple of times I had to have a lot of help moving my legs because I just had no idea how to get down safely. Then another time I went down really quickly and slipped on the tiles at the bottom. Now I am more careful.
I love the tiles in the hall though. They are lovely and cool in this hot weather and by the front door it is a bit like a kennel so I feel safe and comfy. The rug in the computer room is good too. I'm not allowed on the lovely bed upstairs although I did get up a couple of times. This morning foster Dad had got up for work and was getting ready so I saw my chance in the vacant spot but I wasn't allowed. Not sure why.

I love toys and I love to play with the football. I can even nearly do fetch.

New things

Let me tell you about all the new things I have seen. there is a thing called a mirror and I'm not sure if there is a dog hiding in it or not. It looks like it but I can't make it out at all. Certainly looks handsome though.
I'm not used to this indoors at all. I don't like to wee in my bed but usually I don't get to go outside much so I don't know where to go at all. I'm a bit confused so I have been making sure it is safe by doing a nice marking wee in all sorts of places. then it will smell safe here.
Now the television thing is weird. It looks like there are people and sounds like there are people but there aren't. I watched it for a little while then got bored because nothing happened. Then later there were some animals so I had to check again.
What is a bit odd is there are birds in a clock thing on the wall. They woke me up when I was just starting to snooze yesterday.

First night in a house

My name is Nelson and I have retired from racing.Tonight I am going to spend my first night in a house. It has been a very confusing day for me. I went on a nice car journey with one of my friends from Foal Farm.Then I went for a little walk with some dogs I met a few days ago. They seem ok but look at me a bit funny so I'm just getting on with it mainly. Having a good old look around and lots and lots of wees. There is a lady called a foster mum who is looking after me and she makes a funny noise when I go to wee sometimes but other times she tells me what a good boy I am. Also I had a nice treat too but it is too hot today and I don't really want anymore treats at the moment.
I have had to have a bit of a lie down because I am not sure what to do next.But there is this pesky fly which is quite disturbing.
I had a great squeaky soft toy earlier but foster mum has hidden it with the other toys now - don't know why.
I had a lovely walk in the garden with lots of sniffs. One of the dogs I met came with me - she seems to be in charge round here and told me off when I got too close to her bed. But she seems nice and mostly goes to sleep.
